The Alternative Nineties Show

Repeats Monday 9am, Tuesday 6am, Saturday 6pm

Dave Benton

Dave BentonMy show, currently called The Alternative Nineties Show, is a celebration of indie, dance and other alternative music of the 1990s, a time of innovative it was the era when we had britpop, grunge, shoegazers, rave, drum and bass, trip hop and so much more, with bands like Nirvana, The Orb, Primal Scream, Pavement, Oasis, Pulp, Dreadzone, Belly, PJ Harvey, the list goes on.

Working on radio stations during the 1990s, along with an enthusiasm for music, meant I built up a substantial archive of well known and not so well known artists over an extensive range of genres, as well as having the opportunity to watch, meet and even interview so many of those artists. The shows dips into that archive to hopefully bring back some great memories or hopefully offer something that may not have been heard before by the listener.

Also I will be hoping to play old interviews and record new interviews and talk to guests, but I’d also love to receive listeners memories of the alternative music scene in the 90s, maybe gigs or festivals they went to, and maybe some suggestions and requests of tracks for me to try and find and play.
