Music from the Big Pink
MONDAY 5-6 PM
Repeats Wednesday 2pm, Thursday 11am, Saturday 8am & 8pm.
Doug Armstrong presents MUSIC FROM THE BIG PINK – a show aimed to celebrate creativity, shared experiences and community – reflecting the ethos of the album of the same name written and recorded by The Band so many years ago.
Doug has a passion for the encouragement and facilitation of live music in the local community, particularly providing opportunities to showcase and develop talent drawn from all age-groups and sectors of society. He has been involved as a champion and curator of acoustic and electric music in concerts, socials and festivals for over a decade. He has worked closely with musical friends and professional colleagues to stage song writing projects, recording sessions and topical drama particularly involving societal sectors characterised by disadvantage, depravation and homelessness.
Doug is inspired by the impact that creative music can have on young people in particular, and his community show will reflect this passion. It will feature music, chosen by the guests, topical interviews and publicity for the local music scene – with humour and wit a constant thread though-out.
