Listen Up!

FRIDAY 3 - 4 PM

Laura, Hannah and Emma present a monthly radio show about the rights of people with learning disabilities and autism in Warwickshire.

The aims of the show is to inform people of their rights and how to use them to live a good life. The radio show also talks about local services and how people can get involved in developing those services.

The information we talk about on the radio links in with previous work we have done at our Speaking Up groups for people with learning disabilities and autism in Warwickshire.

We hope that having a radio programme will bring a new audience and empower more people with learning disabilities and autism to understand and use their rights.

We present information ourselves, interview people who can help us give important information and above all, enjoy the exciting experience of hosting our own radio show!

Laura Bartley

Hi, my name is Laura.

I go to Stratford College three days a week and I am a twin sister. When I am not at college I go to ILEAP.

I used to be on the Learning Disability Partnership Board as a Learning Disability rep for Leamington and Young People.

I want to be on the radio because I have done it before and really enjoyed it, so I wanted to do more. I would like to have either a job in an office or on the radio in the future.

Hannah Delaney

Hello, I’m Hannah. I work for Grapevine as an Empowerment Worker in Warwickshire.

My job is about supporting people with learning disabilities to speak up for themselves and understand more about their rights and services in their local area.

I love my job, and in my spare time I enjoy spending time with my friends, knitting and going on holidays!

I am looking forward to having a radio show on Welcombe Radio because it is another new and exciting way for us to tell people about the work we do in Warwickshire.

Emma MoldEmma Mold

Hello, I’m Emma. I work for Grapevine as an Empowerment Worker in Warwickshire.

My job is about supporting people with learning disabilities to speak up for themselves and understand more about their rights and services in their local area.

In my spare time I enjoy doing Pilates, reading and looking after my cat!

I’m excited about supporting Laura to plan and do her show on Welcombe Radio. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to talk about disability and show what people can achieve. It’s also lots of fun!
