Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket.

Scroll down to see the prizes and read about the local business that donated them.

Welcombe Radio is a not-for-profit organisation that is run and operated by volunteers.  One of our main purposes is to support all aspects of the local community.  Along with our live broadcasts from Christmas events such as the Victorian Evenings in Stratford and Shipston, this event is another way of helping promote what 24 local businesses are doing during the Christmas period and at the same time raising funds for the radio station.

Basically, each day starting on Wednesday, 1st December up to Friday, 24th we will be opening a door on our Welcombe Radio Advent Calendar revealing a donated prize and which local business donated it.

A grand draw will then take place in a one-off special Winner’s Show (3.00 to 4.00pm.) on Friday, 24th December after Tori Rushton’s Classical Gems show and before Penny Keynton-Hook’s Connecting Stratford Show.

The raffle tickets will be £2 per ticket or a strip of 5 for £5.  They will be sold by all Welcombe Radio personnel.

We may not be a commercial radio station but we do believe in supporting our local independent businesses.  So far we have 18 businesses involved not just from Stratford but also Warwick, Shipston and Wellesbourne  as well, examples of which include, the Stratford Playhouse, the Plantarium Café, Lily’s Waffles and Crepes, Warwick Books, the Golden Monkey Tea Company and the Mayor of Stratford’s Afternoon Tea at the Fourteas.  The event is also being promoted by the new team at Stratforward BID.

The following describes what we at Welcombe Radio offer the prize-donating businesses in return.

  1. All those who donate a prize will be acknowledged on the Welcombe Radio Advent Calendar Raffle webpage.
  2. This will include a photo/logo connecting the prize to the local business donating the prize and a short paragraph describing anything special they are doing for Christmas.
  3. Plus, a link to the company’s website.
  4. Similarly, the event and all those involved will also be promoted on Welcombe Radio social media.
  5. An image associated with the donating business will be behind one of the doors on the large advent calendar at the Foundation House Community Hub.
  6. All prize donators will be mentioned by Welcombe Radio programme presenters in the lead up to the grand draw on the 24th
  7. A member of the prize-donating business (if possible) to attend the grand draw programme; obviously they will have the opportunity to promote their business/organisation.
  8. Music tracks for the grand draw programme to be chosen by the prize donators.

With regards,

Peter Keynton-Hook

Shakespeare Distillery ~ Prize donated: £35 voucher

Proud to live and work in the historical town of Stratford upon Avon, known worldwide as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, we wanted to create something authentic to our area. Of course we couldn’t distil the bard himself into a bottle, but we could look at the Tudor period in which he lived and the characters he created in his plays, bringing the essence of this into our spirits.

The Tudor era was a significant period for spirit production, as people began using it not only for medicinal purposes, but to enjoy as a recreational drink. The 16th and 17th centuries became a time of great discovery, experimentation and innovation.

At Shakespeare Distillery we aim to recapture this period of innovation by fusing traditional and, in some cases, forgotten ingredients with modern techniques to create exciting new spirits. We now produce a range of premium, handcrafted gins and rums made entirely onsite at the distillery, including the award-winning Stratford Dry Gin and Jester Rum.

Roly’s Fudge ~ Prize donated: box of fudge

Originating from Devon in the West Country over 30 years ago, we now have independently-run family fudge pantries across the UK. Each shop uses traditional recipes to make fresh fudge every day, handmade in full view for you to see.

Trading since 1987, we’ve spread from a single West Country shop to fudge pantries across the UK, a reputation that’s grown almost entirely word-of-mouth!

Right now there’s over 40 Roly’s Fudge shops operating across the UK from Cornwall to the Lake District. With tasters available to sample before purchase, we now have thousands of Roly’s Fudge addicts!

We may seem a lot, but there are only 15 families behind Roly’s Fudge. Each of our pantries are small businesses independently run by families who have fallen in love with our fudge and who share our same artisan values.

This pantry was opened in the summer of 2014 by Andy and Kate, who also own Roly’s Fudge Stow-on-the-Wold.
