The theme this year is ‘Love Your Place’ and we will be broadcasting from the heart of Stratford all day from 10 am to 6pm, On Rother Street Market both radios are joining up with a market stall (curtesy of Stratford Town Trust) to talk to local people about radio.
Organised by the Local Radio Alliance since 2019 it was originally started by UKRD back in 2015. Its aim was to bring together local stations on a national level.
UNESCO says of community radio. It is a medium that gives voice to the voiceless that serves as the mouthpiece of the marginalized and is at the heart of communication and democratic processes.
In recent years, local radio has achieved new heights of relevance, there is a need to unite following isolation. Joining meaningful and supportive networks has never been greater. Local Radio has proved an invaluable medium to facilitate such connections.
We want to use it not only to celebrate but to strengthen the connections that local radio brings to communities and those who make up those communities. So,
CELEBRATE LOCAL RADIO WITH US

Everyday life has changed in the last few months. Here at Welcombe Radio, we are adapting to the current situation. For the time being, some of our programme-makers are going to continue making their shows whilst others, for understandable reasons, are going to take a break. There may also be some minor interruptions to our output or an occasional drop in sound quality. We apologise in advance for this. However, if you do miss some or all of a programme, please check the full schedule to see when it is repeated.
Chris's Quiz Night
Monday 8.30 - 10.30pm
As you can't go to the pub quiz at the moment, we thought we'd bring the quiz to you! We can't serve you any drinks, and there won't be any prizes, but Chris will still host a fun quiz which is open to everyone. You can email your answers to firstname.lastname@example.org if you like, or just listen in.
